All In One
Many of us feel that if we could only have one bike this would
be it! 'Cross bikes are big fun. Compared to pure road bikes,
their frames and wheels are sturdier. Typically they use knobby
tires (in road-bike widths) and powerful cantilever brakes. They're
much lighter and more responsive than mountain bikes, way more
fun on dirt, way more fun on pavement.
If we include rack and fender eyelets, your 'cross bike, with
smooth tread tires, can double as a terrific touring bike. With
light road wheels you can use it on fast club rides.
With its tougher 'cross wheels, you can commute on it in all
weather. One bike? No problem. With that one bike you' ll enjoy
epic dirt-road adventures, plus you can train on the pavement
or hone your skills on your favorite trails.
Like Kish road frames, our 'cross frames are individually hand-built,
and available in titanium or steel. Typical 'cross geometry is
a little more relaxed than road geometry for stable off-road steering.
Frame clearances are greater so mud won' t pack up around the
tires. Even if you never race your 'cross bike you' ll love having
it around. In a financial bind, many riders will tell you they’d
part with anything they own—but their 'crosser. They' re
keepers.
Limited Edition CrossMuters
We now offer fixed-size steel cross/commuter/all around frames. The idea is to make an off-road road bike, not dedicated to cross racing (well suited for it, though) but also for dirt road exploring, commuting or light touring. We have made many bikes like this over the years, it’s the most popular “model” that we don’t offer. The standard road racing bike position doesn’t suit everyone, and they can’t fit a tire bigger than 700x28. Mountain bikes are overkill for a lot of riding that folks use them for, and too slow on smooth terrain.
These bikes have clearance for 700x35 tires, canti brake mounts and semi-sloping geometry to fit more riders. There are 3 sizes: 54cm, 56cm, and 58cm.

Each size has a head tube 2cm longer than "normal". In other words, the 56 cm frame has a head tube length that a traditional (level top tube) 58cm would have. To make sure standover is adequate, they also have a seat tube that is 2cm shorter. The result is a slightly sloping top tube, about 5 degrees. This is a very popular design for our custom road and cross bikes. The taller head tube lets you get in the position you need without using an odd stem or a stack of spacers.
They are available in classic gloss black only. Pictures are in the gallery.
There is also a steel fork option, Igleheart unicrown forks are available that are built and painted to match the frames.
